Finally.. The First Pics of Amélie!!

OK Guess we made it.. We finally can put up some pics of Amélie online!
So Amélie was born the 10th of December, hour 20.00 in the cosy and warm (the Italian Gas company managed to supply our house with gas on exactly that date, while Alessia was in labour.. screaming.. Guess they got scared. We have been waiting for that since the 16th of August!) confinements of our home in via Burgos in Rome.

The choice of a home birth was made since we preferred not to have to much interference with the medical doctors here, since italian docs are very keen on intervening- they have the highest rate of ceasarian operations here (40-50%)and since we wanted a birth as natural as possible - obviously knowing that is was safe - at home seemed to be the preferred choice.

So after 15 hours of labour - in which at times she wished she had the choice of an epidural or 'ruggeprik' 4 kgs of pure joy entered in our world and so we present to you.. Amélie!!
